Albert Heijn marks first year of Appie Today

February 1, 2018 – Albert Heijn is celebrating the anniversary this week of Appie Today, which launched last year as the first supermarket online TV channel in the world. An interactive social platform with programs made for and by customers and associates, Appie Today began airing in February 2017 as a new and innovative way to connect with customers and colleagues by offering daily shows on food, culture, trends and news.

"The first year was a great adventure as we experimented with content, formats and data-driven decisions," said Monique Bergers, Chief Editor Appie Today. "Our goal from the very beginning was to connect with media consumers who are increasingly selective in their search for stories that appeal to them. We think we've achieved this with Appie Today."

The channel's current program lineup includes Ik ken dit niet, #Huh?! and the entertainment show Appie-to-date, all powered by customerscolleagues, social media and the future.

Below are key facts and figures about Appie Today from 2017:

  • 25 million views
  • Target group reached: consumers 18-35
  • More than 240 videos produced
  • View through rate of over 30 seconds per video
