Stop & Shop partners to donate nearly 2 million meals

May 2, 2018 – Stop & Shop partnered with two New York television stations last Saturday to secure more than 1.9 million meals for local families in need and restock eight food banks with over 240 tons of goods. The second annual Feeding Our Families / Alimentando a Nuestras Familias food drive – Stop & Shop's largest one-day food donation event – was held in collaboration with NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47.

Altogether, 254 Stop & Shop stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut served as community collection sites for the massive effort, doubling last year's inaugural results of 900,000 meals. All nonperishable donations – enough to fill six tractor trailers – were delivered to the participating food banks, which face their greatest need from January through August.

More than 1,000 volunteers, including anchors, reporters and staff from NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47, as well as Stop & Shop associates and food bank representatives, helped collect goods at the Stop & Shop locations. The brand also donated $50,000 in support of the food banks, each serving the Tri-State area.
