Delhaize Belgium honored for work to prevent food waste

March 22, 2018 – Delhaize Belgium's efforts to reduce food waste continue to pay off – and receive recognition. The brand was among the recipients at the 2018 Food Waste Awards on March 20 honoring the best ideas for preventing food loss.

Delhaize received the award in the food business category for its commitment to donate unsold products to more than 140 local associations serving individuals and families in need. In 2017, the brand saved 2,635 tons of food and expects to increase that amount this year.

"This award reflects the hard work of associates across Delhaize to reduce food waste while also helping the communities we serve in Belgium and Luxembourg," said Dieter De Waegeneer - SVP People, Organization & Sustainability.
