Bol.com today opens the Netherlands´ biggest furniture and homeware store

Table lamps, duvet covers, throw cushions and dining room chairs: from today, these items are as easy to order as books, cosmetics and toys, as bol.com opens the Netherlands’ biggest furniture and homeware store. Offering some 80,000 items, the new web-based store already tops in size the biggest home furniture outlets in the country’s shopping centers.

Having previously launched specialist stores with everything for DIY and gardening, kitchen and dining, and pets, bol.com today opens a furniture and homeware store with over 20,000 new items, taking the total number of homeware items at bol.com to 80,000. The new store breaks down its product array into easy-to-use categories, ranging from home accessories, chairs, stools, and side-tables, to soft furnishings such as bed linen, window coverings, lighting, bathroom textiles and office furnishings. The store also offers a wide range of accessories, such as throw plaids, candles and towels. Bol.com’s product range includes articles from brands such as HKliving, Riverdale, Lifestyle, vtwonen, Zuiver and Beddinghouse.

Open to competitors

Last year, bol.com opened its webstore doors to competitors across the country, enabling other stores to sell their products through bol.com and reach the company’s four million customers. The furniture and homeware store works along the same lines and makes available the full ranges of the likes of Kartell, Artimide, Muuto, Flinders and Direct Design, giving consumers a clear idea of what’s on offer in the furniture and interior design market, and providing the best possible choice in price and availability. Bol.com expects more names to sign up soon, further expanding the assortment.

Inspiring themes

Themes that change by the month don’t just make it easy to find and order products at bol.com’s furniture and homeware store, they make it inspiring. “That’s how we’ll help our customers to find what they need, while also inspiring them to pick and mix our items to create their own, individual style,” says Michel Schaeffer, Marketing Director at bol.com. “We’ll be featuring a new theme every month, responding to trends and seasons. This month’s theme is ‘Home, naturally.’”

Full return option

Aside from the broad range of 80,000 items and extensive background information, bol.com expects its fast and free delivery service – “you order before 11pm today, we deliver tomorrow” – to ensure that many customers will find their way to its furniture and homeware store within a few months. As Schaeffers notes: “We’re giving customers the option to return goods within 30 days – plenty of time to see whether that lamp you like so much really goes with your dining room table, or whether that chair is a comfy as it looks online.”

Bol.com’s furniture and homeware store is the third specialist store the internet retailer has opened this year, having recently expanded its specialist range with two stores offering everything for pets and for DIY and gardening.
