Utrecht – Hot on the heels of its introduction of household equipment, baby products, and kitchen and dining items, bol.com will now also sell a full range of make-up, perfume and toothpaste.
From today, ordering perfume and shampoo online will be just as easy as buying books, games and electronics: bol.com is opening a health and beauty store. Stocking no less than 30,000 products, the new specialist store offers a much broader range than even the biggest bricks-and-mortar perfume store or pharmacy. Bol.com's digital shelves will feature items including lipstick, razorblades, vitamins and minerals.
Bol.com will be one of few online sellers of health and beauty products in the Netherlands and Belgium, and will primarily compete with these countries' bricks-and-mortar perfume stores and pharmacies, which typically stock a couple of thousand product lines. From today, bol.com will sell items from well-known health and beauty names such as Nivea, Max Factor, Durex, Modifast, L’Oreal, Dolce & Gabbana, Garnier, Gillette, Hugo Boss, Axe, Oral-B, Biodermal and Gucci.
Michel Schaeffer, bol.com's Marketing Director, comments: “In keeping with our tradition, we'll not just offer a broad array of products, but also provide the biggest possible selection in terms of brand and price. From today, we’re making both completely everyday items and highly unusual health and beauty products available to bol.com's millions of customers in the Netherlands and Belgium – delivered as quickly and reliably as they've come to expect from us."
Research commissioned by bol.com* suggests that nearly half of all consumers go for value and promotions when selecting a store to shop for such products. “We'll take this on board and will kick off with some very good opening deals, while also making sure our customers find value for money throughout the store,” Schaeffer says.
