Ahold USA recognized by Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals with 2011 Supply Chain Innovation Award

Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States – Ahold USA in partnership with Del Monte Foods and ES3 is the recipient of the 2011 Supply Chain Innovation AwardTM from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and SupplyChainBrain. The award was established in 2005 to highlight and recognize the top players in the supply chain industry when it comes to innovative projects, programs and collaboration that reduces costs, streamlines processes, saves energy, and improves operating efficiencies.

The team of Ahold USA, Del Monte and ES3 implemented a direct-to-store program that provides a shared, collaborative warehouse for manufacturers and retailers. The program resulted in a reduction in costs and carbon usage, improved speed to shelf, and increased on-shelf visibility.

“To receive the 2011 Supply Chain Innovation AwardTM is an incredible honor and recognizes the hard work of our entire team,” said Walt Lentz, senior vice president, supply chain, Ahold USA. “We applaud the work of Del Monte and ES3 in helping Ahold USA implement the direct-to-store strategy and streamline our supply chain operations.”

Lentz, Brenda Hamilton, chief strategy and marketing officer, ES3 and David Allen, executive vice president of operations, Del Monte presented at CSCMP’s recent annual conference and were selected by a panel of judges to receive this year’s Supply Chain Innovation AwardTM from among over 50 initial entries and six finalists including: IBM Corporation, Motorola Mobility, Polo Ralph Lauren, ADT Security Services Inc in collaboration with Inmar Inc, and The Dow Chemical Company in collaboration with Dr. Timothy Pettit of the Air Force Institute of Technology.
