Ahold USA & its Giant Carlisle division to host Field Trip Factory’s 2011

Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States – Field Trip Factory has selected Ahold USA and its Giant Carlisle division, operators of GIANT Food Sores, as the retail host for its third annual Dietitian Summit to be held May 18-20, 2011 at the GIANT Super Food Store in Willow Grove, PA. This health and wellness conference builds relationships among retail dietitians and nutritionists to create a community for nutrition professionals. The conference also strives to generate awareness about the food industry’s commitment to consumer health. Past Dietitian Summits were held in Scottsdale, AZ and Chicago, IL.
“We are very excited to work with Field Trip Factory to offer this to retail nutritionists across the country,” said Shirley Axe, health and wellness manager, Ahold USA. “Hosting the 2011 Dietitian Summit is a wonderful opportunity for Ahold USA to share and demonstrate our own health and wellness programs to others within the industry.”

Approximately 40 retail dietitians and nutritionists are expected to attend the three-day conference. In addition to exchanging information with their counterparts from other grocery retailers, attendees will also hear from a select group of manufacturers, public health officials and health and wellness-related publishers and authors.

The grocery store is one of the first places where customers make healthy eating choices and Ahold USA is committed to providing them with solutions to help achieve healthier lifestyles. Healthy IdeasTM, Ahold USA’s exclusive product labelling system includes approximately 5,000 corporate and national brand perishable and non-perishable products that feature the blue and green Healthy Ideas shelf tags to help customers identify healthy options as they shop the aisles. In addition to offering healthier choices through products, informational and educational materials are also available regularly to customers. To help combat childhood obesity, Ahold USA and its supermarket divisions also offer Passport to Nutrition, a web-based program to educate kids on nutrition and living health lifestyles in a fun and interactive way.
