Ahold USA announces leadership appointments

Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States – Ahold USA announced that Don Sussman has joined the Stop & Shop New York Metro Division as Division President, effective November 7, 2011.

Sussman will have responsibility for Stop & Shop New York Metro Division’s sales, operating profits, organization and people. Stop & Shop New York Metro currently operates 183 supermarkets in New York, New Jersey and parts of Connecticut, and employs approximately 26,000 associates.

Sussman has more than 32 years of retail experience and 16 years within Ahold USA businesses. Sussman recently served as the interim Division President for the Giant Landover Division. Most recently, Sussman served in the capacity of EVP, Ahold USA Supply Chain. He joined Stop & Shop in 1995, and he spent many years in leadership roles in Merchandising and Marketing functions for Stop & Shop, Giant Landover, and Ahold USA, including SVP of Non-Perishables, and EVP of Merchandising and Marketing. Sussman, a life-long resident of New York who knows the marketplace well, started his career at Pathmark where he held a variety of roles, including Assistant Store Manager, Director of Sales for the New York Division, Vice President of Meat, and Vice President of Grocery. Sussman will report to Bhavdeep Singh, EVP of Operations, Ahold USA.

Ron Onorato, current New York Metro Division President, will be moving to Ahold USA in a new role of Senior Vice President, Operational Initiatives. In this important role, Onorato will be responsible or working with the Ahold USA Retail Divisions to identify and help implement best practices in the area of operational excellence and performance. In this role, Onorato also will report to Bhavdeep Singh.
