2011 Health and wellness resolutions: The Consumer Goods Forum

The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) is an international network of CEOs and senior managers from over 650 retailers, manufacturers, service providers and other stakeholders in 70 countries. At the CGF's annual meeting in Barcelona (June 2011), a number of resolutions regarding health and wellness were approved by the industry.

As a member of the Board of the CGF, and one of the key supporters of health and wellness initiatives, Ahold played an important role in gaining industry approval on resolutions to improve the health and wellness of consumers, employees, their families and the communities we serve.

In summary, manufacturers and retailers agreed to provide consumers with information and products that enable them to make healthy choices. The industry also agreed to further encourage a culture of prevention rather than cure, promoting active, healthy lifestyles, and engaging with other stakeholders to increase the positive impact of our efforts. The resolutions encourage retailers and manufacturers to further develop and implement self-regulatory tools to support healthier diet and lifestyles.* The GCF will monitor and report on progress against these resolutions.
