We aim to continue to build workplaces that reflect the diversity of our local communities and contribute positively to the health and well-being of our associates.

See what our brands have been doing recently to promote health and inclusivity at work:

The Netherlands

In September, 2,600 colleagues from Ahold Delhaize’s Global Support Office and our Dutch brands Albert Heijn, Gall & Gall and Etos, participated in the annual Dam to Dam running, walking and cycling race weekend in the Netherlands. Ahold Delhaize was a co-sponsor of the event – which is the largest sporting weekend in the country, with approximately 50,000 attendees – as part of our commitment to promoting healthy living.  Associates were proud to take part in it for the first time wearing our brand new green Ahold Delhaize T-shirts.

Alfa Beta

In order to develop an inclusive environment and to provide a healthy and safe workplace for associates with disabilities, Alfa Beta implemented a counseling program for associates with disabilities. It involved their supervisors through structured interviews from both sides, to help them better understand the associates’ needs and to make suggestions on possible changes or accommodations.

Alfa Beta also created a guide outlining the benefits it provides for people with disabilities and for associates who have a person with disability in their families. Alfa Beta also implemented an on-the-job training program for specific stores, in collaboration with community organizations specialized in supporting people with intellectual disabilities, in order to help them improve their social skills and to give to both trainees and their coaches the chance to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.

Delhaize America

In October, Delhaize America's Business Resource Groups (BRGs) were ranked 14th out of nearly 1,300 BRGs, employee resource groups (ERGs) and diversity councils that applied for PRISM International’s 2016 ERG and Councils Honors Award. The award recognizes outstanding contributions and achievements in organizational diversity processes.

The rankings were announced and the awards presented on October 20 at the eighth annual Honors Award dinner ceremony at the 2016 ERG and Council conference in Las Vegas.
