December, 2018 – Giant Food, our brand based in Landover, Maryland, held its first event last week focused on the new Young Professionals (YoPro) business resource group, or BRG, which aims to create a sense of community among Giant associates and draw on the insights and experiences of millennials.
About 50 attendees – including older associates who came to the kickoff to show their support –enjoyed food, board games and networking. John MacDonald, VP of Marketing and the executive sponsor, welcomed participants and encouraged a discussion about young professionals adding even more value at Giant.
Part of the brand’s commitment to be a better place to work, the YoPro group hopes to give millennials a voice throughout the company, starting in the Landover office and beginning next year in stores and distribution centers. Giant also has BRGs dedicated to Pride, Veterans and Women Adding Value (WAV), each supporting diversity and inclusion, engagement, business impact, professional development and community outreach.
