Celebrating Pride Month at Ahold Delhaize

July 4, 2022 – At Ahold Delhaize, we strive to build a diverse and inclusive culture for all associates so we can actively support their contributions.  For us, Pride is more than a monthlong observance, it’s a critical need to stand with the LGBTQ+ community to raise awareness, encourage engagement, and combat stereotypes and bias all year round. We believe in a workplace that reflects our values, where all associates are respected, and where they can show their full talent – no matter how they identify themselves, who they love or how they like to dress. We’re proud of all our colleagues.   

As Pride Month wraps up, we learnt how not only our brands in the U.S. celebrated Pride Month but how our European brands also recognize the LGBTQ+ community. Below are just a few initiatives... 

  •  Several of our brands sponsored Pride parades throughout their markets where associates – both from the LGBTQ+ community and allies – were encouraged to participate in the fun and show their pride.  
  • Brands shared guides for the use of inclusive language to avoid selecting words that risk being attributed as bias or discrimination. 
  • Several brands’ Business Resource Groups and Diversity & Inclusion teams organized panels and discussions on topics such as what it means to be seen in the LBGTQ+ community. These discussions gave participants the opportunity to actively engage, listen, inquire, share, and learn together. 
  • Pride celebration playlists, Microsoft Teams backgrounds and associate stories were also shared internally across the brands.
