Utrecht - Since November 2012, customers have been able to pick up items they have ordered at bol.com at 59 different Albert Heijn stores.
In the beginning of January, another three in-store pick-up points for this service were added. Between mid-May and mid-July, the number of these pick-up points will increase dramatically, with almost every Albert Heijn store offering this bol.com pick-up service.
Convenience for the customer
Our customers lead busy lives and are pushed for time. By integrating bol.com pick-up points into the service desks at all the Albert Heijn stores, customers have the opportunity to pick up their bol.com orders at their local store any time they want. Research has shown that our customers really appreciate this service: 84% of users are more than satisfied with the service, stating that it offers them more convenience and freedom as they don’t have to wait for home delivery. They also enjoy the fact that they can combine doing their grocery shopping with picking up their package. Albert Heijn’s extended opening hours are an added bonus in this respect.
Over the next two months, this service will be introduced in nearly all Albert Heijn stores, starting with company-owned stores in Belgium and the south of the Netherlands. When placing their order, customers will be able see if there is an Albert Heijn store located in their neighborhood that has bol.com pick-up point. Bol.com orders of €20 and above are delivered free of charge, also at Albert Heijn. If desired, customers will also be able to return their order at the supermarket within 30 days, also free of charge.
Through these bol.com pick-up points, we are making an important step in Ahold's growth strategy which aims to create stronger customer loyalty and a broader offering. Albert Heijn and bol.com will be introducing other collaborative special offers very soon in their effort to provide their customers with ever-increasing shopping pleasure and convenience.
