September 9, 2019 – Bol.com has announced that they will be expanding into the French-speaking part of Belgium. In summer 2020, the country’s French-speaking residents will be able to shop in their native language using the bol.com app. The brand is seeking local entrepreneurs to expand its offering to this new market and will give current merchants the opportunity to broaden their reach.
New customers in French-speaking Belgium will soon be able to choose from millions of items at bol.com for fast and convenient delivery. Huub Vermeulen, Managing Director of bol.com, said, “In 2010, we officially launched bol.com in Dutch-speaking Belgium. Since September 2014, we have been able to serve our Belgian customers even better thanks to the cooperation with local merchants in Belgium. We would now also like to share the expertise that we have built over the past 20 years with entrepreneurs from the French-speaking part of the country, so that together we can offer a good local alternative. This contributes to our common goal: to be where the customer goes and make life as easy as possible for them.”
The expansion of bol.com in Belgium fits in with Ahold Delhaize’s ambition to accelerate growth in the country by offering customers here an even better shopping experience, both online and offline. Ahold Delhaize is also active in Belgium with Delhaize and Albert Heijn; bol.com customers can currently choose to pick up their packages at the Delhaize and Albert Heijn stores in Dutch-speaking Belgium.
