Overview
The roots of Stop & Shop go back to 1914 when the Rabinovitz family founded the Economy Grocery Stores Company in the Boston suburb of Somerville, Massachusetts. The company officially became known as Stop & Shop, Inc. in 1946. Today, it is organized into two divisions: Stop & Shop New England and Stop & Shop New York Metro.
