Overview

The roots of Stop & Shop go back to 1914 when the Rabinovitz family founded the Economy Grocery Stores Company in the Boston suburb of Somerville, Massachusetts. The company officially became known as Stop & Shop, Inc. in 1946. Today, it is organized into two divisions: Stop & Shop New England and Stop & Shop New York Metro.

Stop & Shop is dedicated to helping its customers save money, save time and eat well. It has been recognized for its commitment to philanthropy in the areas of hunger relief, improving the lives of children, and building healthier communities.
